In our PLS Nostalgia blog series, we take a look back to some of our most memorable projects such as the 2014 Mallard Anniversary.

For more than two decades, Production Light & Sound Ltd has provided equipment hire and sales to the theatre, live music and events industry. In our PLS Nostalgia blog series, we take a look back to some of our most memorable projects.

Let’s head back to 2014 and the 75th Anniversary of the Mallard locomotive.

We joined forces with the National Railway Museum in York to project an iconic art deco image of the record breaking Mallard train.

On 3 July 1938, the Mallard raced down Stoke Bank at 126mph to set a new steam locomotive world speed record. That record still stands today.

To celebrate the 75th Anniversary the logo was projected onto Clifford’s Tower in York and then the Museum itself and also Durham Castle brightening up a cold February evening.

Only six of the 35 A4 Locomotives built survive in the world today.

We provided the fixtures and mains distribution for the three locations and also redesigned the image to best work for the environments.
